Early to Mid February 2011
I don't know if there is a better lake in the country right now!
The weather is great, the lake is clean, and the fish are biting in record numbers. This past week, the FLW tour was in Clewiston, and the number and size of the fish caught was not only staggering, but record breaking. It took over 106 pounds to win the tournament, that the first time in the history of the FLW the it took over 100 pounds, and second place took 102 pounds. The records for the number and pounds of fish caught, eclipsed every record they had. On the first day of the tournament, it took more than 20 pounds just to get into the top 50, that's incredible.

On most lakes, if you bring a 20 pound bag to the scales, you are the leader, not in this tournament or on this lake. On the 3rd day, one of the fishermen said that he was passing up 4 & 5 pound fish, because he knew they would not be big enough to help him overtake the leader, can you imagine seeing a 5 pounder, then thinking its too small?
The lake level is at 12.48 this morning and the temperature yesterday was at 73 degrees. We were fishing artificial baits, and caught fish just north of the shoal, drifting the eel grass on the shoal, then ran to the south to see if we could find some bigger fish, and we did, just off Rita Island. We were catching them on junebug Zoom worms, skinny dippers and watermelon flukes. There are good numbers of fish on the beds, coming off the beds, and staging in the grass getting ready. Its just an incredible time to fish, and if you have the time, try to get down.
